BORDER CROSSING Information

UPDATED: APRIL 2023

COVID-19 protocols vary from region to region, and some jurisdictions limit access to services based on vaccination status. In addition, border crossing requirements, even within Canada, can vary. Although every effort will be made to keep the following border crossing information up to date,
please refer to the government web-sites for the most current information.  No matter where your travels take you, close to home or abroad, in addition to having current ID, it is wise to have your official COVID-19 vaccination receipts with you.

  • Entering / Returning to Canada

    (Last updated: April, 2023)

There have been many changes to the border crossing requirements, and it is important to always refer to the government web-sites for current requirements.  The primary reference for entering or returning to Canada is the Government of Canada website:

    https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/wizard-start

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid  (travel, testing, and border information)

As of October 1, 2022, all COVID-19-related border requirements have ended.  This includes vaccination, mandatory use of ArriveCAN, and any testing and quarantine/isolation requirements for all travellers entering Canada whether by land, air or sea.

  • Entering the United States

    (Last updated: April, 2023)

For entering the U.S., the requirement for proof of COVID-19 vaccination status has been extended to May 11, 2023.  Experience has shown that the requirement may be extended further. Thus, when travelling outside Canada, it is important to ensure that a valid passport is carried along with proof of COVID-19 vaccination status, (see our step-by-step guide on how to download your vaccines certificates), and it is advisable to check the Canadian Government website for travel advice and advisories: https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories

    ENTERING the US by AIR

    • Travellers are required to show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before boarding a flight.
